Thank you all for your prayers.
Great Granddaddy had a severe headache on Sunday morning after church. He asked Great Grandmamma to drive home and was nauseated. As the day progressed his headache got worse and he was dizzy. His speech was slurred and he said he was sick.
At the hospital they did a cat scan and discovered he had a "bleed" in the right cerebellum which controls coordination. We were told the next 72 hours would be critical because of swelling. The neurosurgeon said she might have to do surgery if the swelling caused too much pressure on the brain. She put him in intensive care and had him monitored every hour. He never had a problem with any of the neurological functions. He did amazingly well.
Great Granddaddy had a cat scan this morning to check the swelling of his brain. The brain has not swollen any more. Surgery is not needed. The brain is bruised and it will take time for that to heal.
The plan is to transfer him to a regular room tomorrow. They will also begin physical and occupational therapy tomorrow in the hospital. It is anticipated that he will be in the hospital for 5-6 days and then he will go for additional therapy.
We are truely blessed. He can move all of his limbs upon command. He can talk. He has his memory and can reason logically. I think he is going to be fine. It will just take a little time for him to get back to normal.
Please keep praying.
